EVENT DETAILS

Time: 5:30 - 7:30 PM

Location: Sign & Celebrate

Address: 1001 Pacific Ave Ste 220, Tacoma, WA 98402

The Plan: Wine, non-alcoholic drinks, light bites and conversation that does not have to begin with, “So, what do you do?”

We noticed something.

Pierce County is full of interesting, accomplished, funny, generous Latinas. And yet, too often, we only cross paths at work, fundraisers, board meetings, professional events, school pickup, community events, or while rushing off to whatever is next.

We wanted a room where none of that is required.

No membership dues. No sales pitch. No networking agenda. No awkward follow-up from someone who really, really wants 30 minutes on your calendar.

Just a couple of hours to conversar, laugh, meet women we might not otherwise meet, and be a little more ourselves.

Because a lot of us spend our days moving between worlds. We lead. We work. We code-switch. We take care of people. We solve problems. We show up.

Sometimes it would be nice to simply show up for each other.

So we decided to make some space for that.

Amigas After Hours is intentionally centered on creating connection among Latinas in Pierce County. That’s the point. But this isn’t a velvet-rope situation. Women from other communities of color and allies who understand and respect the spirit of the gathering are welcome, too.

WHY ARE DOING THIS?

Six women. One shared feeling: Pierce County could use more spaces like this.

We’re a group of Latinas who live and work in the area. Some of us knew each other. Some of us were acquaintances. Some of us are still getting to know one another.

Which is kind of the point.

We come from different backgrounds, industries, ages, and experiences, but we kept coming back to the same question:

Where do Latinas go to meet one another when nobody is selling something, recruiting for something, or asking for a favor?

We didn’t have a particularly good answer.

So we’re starting with a room, some food and drinks, and 25–30 interesting women.

Seems like a reasonable experiment.

WHY YOU?

Because someone thought of you.

Maybe you know one of us. Maybe someone in our circle knows you. Maybe you met one of us once. Maybe someone simply heard your name and said:

“She should be there.”

That’s pretty much the selection process.

We’re inviting women we think will bring warmth, curiosity, perspective, humor, and a willingness to connect without performing.

You don’t need to know anyone.

You don’t need an impressive title.

You definitely don’t need an elevator pitch.

Just come as yourself.

If you’d like to bring someone, please let us know first. We’re intentionally keeping this first gathering small, so space really is limited.

And if you can’t make it, no guilt. Just let us know so we can offer the spot to another amiga.

SAVE YOUR SPOT

If you received an invitation, RSVP below with your name and email.

Please RSVP by October, 15.

That’s it.

We’ll only use your email to keep you informed about this event. We are not adding you to a marketing database, subscribing you to a newsletter, or beginning a 12-part email nurture sequence.

That would rather spectacularly miss the point.

IS THIS BECOMING A THING?

We hope so.

But first, let’s see if we can fill one room.

We’ve invited about 25–30 women to this first Amigas After Hours. If the connections feel as good as we hope they will, we’d love to do it again.

What we don’t want is to create another organization with dues, committees, obligations, and a calendar full of events you feel guilty for missing.

Maybe next time is another happy hour.

Maybe it’s a walk. A hike. A cooking demonstration. A potluck. A book swap. Someone opening her studio, office, backyard, or kitchen.

The sky really is the limit.

And if this grows, we hope it grows because women in the community bring what they have: a space, an idea, a talent, some food, a bottle of wine, or a little time.

Community for Latinas, by Latinas.

No dues.

No sales funnel.

No next-day email asking whether you have 15 minutes to “connect.”

Just more reasons to know one another.

Let’s start there.
